Our client's mother was living in a large home on a large property and during the winter she would spend several months in Florida. While away, our client would have to maintain the house for her mother. After discussing many alternatives with our clients, they decided to have a granny suite built on the back of her mother's house. Our clients would move into the larger main house and her mother would move into the granny suite.

We designed the granny suite, approximately 1,000 sq.ft., with an attached single car garage and full basement with access to the main house through the adjoining stairwell to the basement. The home is built to R2000 standards, includes an air to air heat pump and Vanee air exchanger. The suite consists of an open concept living room, dining room and galley kitchen, a bedroom and bathroom with built in laundry facilities in the bathroom. Providing a built in entertainment centre and propane fireplace in the living room, a built in china cabinet in the dining room and an electric fireplace and built in TV unit in the bedroom together with hardwood and ceramic floors and solid surface countertop in the bathroom gave the suite the elegance enjoyed in the main house.

An 18' X 36' in ground pool was installed and we designed two separate deck areas, one for the client and one for her mother with privacy separation but keeping in mind that the pool was the focal point for each unit.
